Go behind the scenes at Ojai Raptor Center and shadow our Wildlife Rehabilitation team as they care for injured and orphaned birds. Spend three hours in the rehabilitation hospital observing daily wildlife rehabilitation of our patients, and learning how our staff and volunteers provide specialized medical care, feeding, and enrichment to help patients recover and return to the wild. This experience is for up to two people.
Please note, this will be an observational experience only; there will be no physical contact with the animals.
What’s Included:
- Shadow experience with ORC’s Wildlife Rehabilitation team at our Ojai facility
- Opportunity to observe daily care routines, treatments, medical procedures, and patient management
- Educational overview of rehabilitation processes and species care
- Duration: Three hours
- This experience is for up to two people.
Scheduling:
- The experience will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.
- Details and coordination will be arranged directly with ORC hospital manager/volunteer coordinator Eliza Cameron at Eliza@ojairaptorcenter.org.
Requirements:
- Participants must be 18 years or older (for safety and biosecurity reasons).
- Closed-toed shoes and appropriate outdoor clothing required.
- Must agree to follow ORC biosecurity measures, including wearing appropriate PPE (ORC will provide PPE)
- No photos or videos of patients allowed, unless permission is given by staff.
